One of the great things about living in Central Florida is being able to take some fun day trips on a tank of gas.
Daytona is famous of course for the speedway and its beautiful beaches, and on a recent trip, I had the opportunity to visit another gem: The Museum of Arts and Sciences (MOAS).
The museum’s collection numbers over 30,000 objects and features galleries devoted to American art, Chinese art, Coca-Cola memorabilia, and prehistoric Florida, among others. There is also a visible storage room that houses objects not currently part of any exhibitions, as well as a children’s museum with interactive exhibits and a planetarium.
I especially enjoyed walking through the prehistory gallery and viewing all of the fossils, including impressive skeletons of a giant ground sloth and a mastodon. Another highlight was the Coca-Cola memorabilia section, with its display of Coca-Cola bottles through the years and vintage advertising signs.
I definitely recommend paying a visit to MOAS if you’re in Daytona and looking for another fun activity to do before or after heading to the beach.
